A referral program for fence contractors, because your client shares that line with somebody

No other trade builds something two households look at every day. The neighbor on the far side of your fence is the most natural referral in the trades — a permanent link is how you actually get it.

Why I built this

Why fence contractors earn referrals they never see

Fencing has a structural advantage nobody uses: your work is literally shared property. Every fence you build has a homeowner on each side, both looking at it daily, both aware of what it cost and how it turned out. When a fence line goes in clean and straight, the neighbor sees the standard — and when their own section fails a year later, they already know exactly what good looks like. That's the shortest distance between a finished job and the next one in any trade, and most fence companies leave it entirely to chance.

The neighbor watched the whole install and still can't name you

They saw your team dig, set posts and hang panels for two days. What they retained is "a white truck." The most qualified prospect you'll ever have has no way to reach you.

The trigger comes months later

Somebody admires the fence in June and gets a dog in February. By then the install is a vague memory and they start with a search engine like nothing ever happened.

Fence shopping turns into three anonymous quotes

Without a name, homeowners default to collecting bids from strangers and picking a number. That's a race you don't want to be in when your advantage is that your work stays straight.

When it happens

You already know the moment they'd refer you.

Fence referrals happen along the property line and on the block. The neighbor sharing the line is first — they watched the whole install, they know the price range, and their side of the fence is now the old side. Then there's the visibility effect: a front-yard or corner-lot fence is seen by everyone who drives past, all season. And there's the trigger crowd — the people who get a dog, put in a pool, or have a toddler start walking, all of whom need fencing suddenly and ask around the neighborhood first, because a fence is the kind of purchase people want a local recommendation for.

Your referral P.S.

Who else fence contractors send their clients to

Referrals run both ways. These are the trades your clients ask you about — worth a name you trust, and a two-way referral relationship on the network.

Installing a fence tears up the ground along its whole length, and the planting on both sides usually needs rethinking afterwards.
Patios, walkways and slab edges get planned alongside fencing — outdoor projects tend to share one budget and one summer.
Pool enclosures are fence work with rules attached, and pool owners are the customers most likely to need fencing on a deadline.
Roots complicate post holes, and overhanging limbs are what took out the section you're replacing. Your clients need that name before you can finish the job properly.

Questions, answered.

How does a fencing referral program actually work?

Every client on your list gets a permanent personal link to send to a neighbor, friend, or family member who needs fencing. When that person requests an estimate through it, they arrive in front of you as a warm lead, and your client gets a thank-you gift card the moment they confirm the referral.

Does my client only get the gift card if the neighbor buys a fence?

No — it's unconditional. Fencing gets planned around dogs, pools and budgets, so a neighbor might ask in summer and build the following spring. Your client earns the thank-you the moment they tap confirm, whatever the timing. You set the amount, and it's locked in per referral at confirmation.

What does the neighbor actually see?

A plain "Request a Free Estimate" form — no gift-card talk, no reward framing, nothing to sign up for. Neighbors sharing a fence line can be a delicate subject, and nobody wants to feel recruited into a promotion. They arrive as a warm lead who was pointed to you by name; the thank-you goes only to your client, separately.

How fast does the gift card go out?

If your gift-card wallet is prefunded, the card ships the moment your client taps confirm — usually within minutes. Without a funded wallet it goes out once the per-referral charge settles, typically a few business days. Worth keeping funded through spring, when referrals cluster. The wallet is prepaid platform credits: nonrefundable, non-withdrawable, no cash value.
