A referral program for landscapers, because the neighbor two doors down is free money

Nobody wins from windshield time. A referral from an existing client is usually on the same street — same drive, same trailer, same morning. A permanent link is how you get more of them on purpose.

Why I built this

Why landscapers earn referrals they never see

Landscaping is one of the only trades where a referral is worth more than its ticket price, because of route density. Two houses on the same block cost dramatically less to service than two houses across town — same trip, same setup, no drive between them. That makes the neighbor of an existing client your single most profitable prospect in the world, and they're watching your team work every week. The whole problem is that admiring the yard and knowing who maintains it are two different things.

The neighbor asks your team, not you

Somebody walks over while the mowers are running and asks a question nobody has a card for. It's the most qualified prospect you'll get all week and there's no way to capture it.

Great yards don't identify their landscaper

The results are on display all season and completely anonymous. Without something your client can hand over, the neighbor's only option is a search that surfaces whoever spends the most on ads.

You're paying for drive time you didn't have to

Every new client on a random street stretches the route and eats the margin. Referrals cluster geographically by nature — but only if there's an easy way for them to happen.

When it happens

You already know the moment they'd refer you.

Landscaping referrals happen on the sidewalk, in real time. Neighbors see your trailer on the same day every week and eventually ask who you are. They notice a lawn that went from patchy to thick after an overseeding and want to know what changed. And the big installs — a bed redesign, a regrade, new plantings — produce a burst of questions the week they're finished, because a transformed front yard is impossible not to comment on. Unlike most trades, your best referral moment repeats every single week you're on that street.

Your referral P.S.

Who else landscapers send their clients to

Referrals run both ways. These are the trades your clients ask you about — worth a name you trust, and a two-way referral relationship on the network.

You see every dead limb and overgrown canopy on the property, and the shade problems that keep a lawn thin. It's the most frequent question your clients ask you that you can't answer yourself.
Patios, walkways and edging are where landscaping stops and hardscape starts. Clients planning an outdoor space ask you first because you're already standing in it.
New plantings and a failing fence show up in the same conversation constantly — the fence is the backdrop for everything you install.
Pool surrounds and the landscaping around them are the same project from the homeowner's point of view, and pool clients are already spending on their outdoor space.

Questions, answered.

How does a landscaping referral program actually work?

Every client on your list gets a permanent personal link to send to a neighbor, friend, or family member who needs landscaping or lawn care. When that person requests an estimate through it, they arrive in front of you as a warm lead, and your client gets a thank-you gift card the moment they confirm the referral.

Does my client only get the gift card if the neighbor signs up?

No — it's unconditional. That matters here, because a neighbor might ask in July and not start service until the following spring. Your client did the introducing and earns the thank-you the moment they tap confirm, whatever the timing turns out to be. You set the amount, and it's locked in per referral at confirmation.

What does the neighbor actually see?

A plain "Request a Free Estimate" form — no gift-card talk, no reward framing, nothing to sign up for. They asked a simple question about a yard and they get a simple way to ask you. They arrive as a warm lead who was pointed to you by name; the thank-you goes only to your client, separately.

How fast does the gift card go out?

If your gift-card wallet is prefunded, the card ships the moment your client taps confirm — usually within minutes. Without a funded wallet it goes out once the per-referral charge settles, typically a few business days. Worth keeping funded through spring, when referrals come in waves. The wallet is prepaid platform credits: nonrefundable, non-withdrawable, no cash value.
