Bank Connection Troubleshooting

Having trouble connecting your bank account? You're not alone — here's how to fix the most common issues.

⚡ Quick Fix (works 90% of the time)

  1. Close the bank connection window completely
  2. Clear your browser cookies (or switch to a different browser)
  3. Disable any ad blockers or privacy extensions
  4. Go back to Settings → Payments → Connect Bank and try again

Blank screen when logging into my bank

This is the most common issue. When you click "Connect Bank," Stripe opens your bank's login page in a popup or redirect. Sometimes that page loads blank — you can see the bank's URL but nothing appears on the page.

Why it happens:

  • Ad blockers(uBlock Origin, AdBlock Plus, Brave Shields) block the bank's verification scripts
  • Privacy extensions (Privacy Badger, Ghostery, DuckDuckGo) block third-party cookies the bank needs
  • Incognito/Private mode— some banks require cookies that aren't available in private browsing
  • Stale session— if you started in one browser or tab and switched to another, the bank's OAuth session gets stuck

How to fix it:

  1. Close ALL tabs related to your bank and to LeadChuck
  2. Clear cookiesfor your bank's website — go to your browser settings → Privacy → Cookies → search for your bank name → delete those cookies
  3. Disable ad blockers temporarily — click the extension icon and turn it off for this site
  4. Use a different browser — if you normally use Chrome, try Safari or Firefox (or vice versa)
  5. Go back to Settings → Payments and click Connect Bank to start a fresh connection

Known affected banks: US Bank, Chase, Wells Fargo, Capital One, USAA, Navy Federal. This is a bank-side issue with how they handle third-party authentication — not a LeadChuck problem.

My bank doesn't appear in the list

Stripe supports thousands of US banks, but some smaller credit unions or online-only banks may not appear in the instant connection list.

What to do:

  • Search by full name— try your bank's complete legal name, not just the common name (e.g., "First Horizon National Corporation" instead of "First Horizon")
  • Use manual entry— look for a link that says "Use account and routing numbers" or "Enter manually." You can type in your routing number and account number directly.
  • Check with your bank — some banks block third-party connections. Call them and ask if they support Plaid or Stripe Financial Connections.

Bank login keeps failing

You can see your bank's login page but your credentials aren't working, even though they work on your bank's website.

Common causes:

  • Two-factor authentication — your bank may send a code via text or email. Check your phone and email for a verification code. Some banks send it to a different number than expected.
  • Security lockout— too many failed attempts (from Stripe's connection attempts) may have temporarily locked your account. Wait 15-30 minutes, or call your bank to unlock.
  • Different login for third-party access— some banks (especially credit unions) have separate credentials for third-party connections. Check your bank's settings for "app passwords" or "third-party access."
  • Password recently changed — if you changed your bank password recently, some aggregators cache the old one. Wait an hour and try again.

I entered my account manually — now what?

If you used the manual routing/account number option, Stripe may send two small deposits (usually a few cents each) to verify the account. This can take 1-2 business days.

  1. Wait for the micro-deposits to appear in your bank account
  2. Come back to Settings → Payments
  3. Enter the exact amounts of the two deposits to confirm ownership

Don't see the deposits after 3 business days? Double-check that your routing and account numbers were entered correctly. If they were wrong, you'll need to start the connection process over.

"Account type not supported"

Stripe Connect requires a US checking account for payouts. The following account types are NOT supported:

  • Savings accounts
  • Prepaid debit cards
  • Virtual cards or temporary account numbers
  • International (non-US) bank accounts
  • PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, or similar services

If you're a sole proprietor, your personal checking account works fine. If you have a business checking account, even better.

I want to change my connected bank account

You can update your bank account anytime:

  1. Go to Settings → Payments
  2. Click Manage Bank Account — this takes you to your Stripe Express Dashboard
  3. In Stripe, go to Payouts → Bank accounts and add your new account
  4. Set the new account as default and remove the old one

Any pending payouts will be sent to whichever account is set as default at the time the payout processes.

Bank connection stuck on "Pending" or "Processing"

If the connection process seems stuck and never completes:

  1. Wait 10 minutes — some bank verifications take time to process
  2. Refresh the page — sometimes the status just needs a page reload to update
  3. Log out and back in to LeadChuck — this forces a fresh session
  4. If still stuck after 30 minutes, click Connect Bankagain to restart the flow. This won't create a duplicate — it'll pick up where you left off or start fresh.

I got an email from "Link" (notifications@link.com)

This is completely normal and not spam. Link is Stripe's payment service — when you connect your bank account through LeadChuck, Stripe automatically creates a Link account tied to your email address.

You can safely:

  • Ignore it — your LeadChuck payments will work fine regardless
  • Verify your email if you want — Link lets you check out faster on other sites that use Stripe
  • Unsubscribefrom Link emails if you don't want them — it won't affect your LeadChuck account

Bottom line:This email is from Stripe, not LeadChuck. It's a side effect of connecting your bank — safe to ignore.
